The Obuasi Municipal Director of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Emmanuel Kofi Antwi has called on Ghanaians to pride themselves in the uniqueness of the stable political climate in the country. He said the country has come a long way and has reached a stage in its political life which should be sustained and improved on.
Mr. Antwi was delivering a lecture on political tolerance at a forum for security agencies and political party activities in the Obuasi Municipality . He said political tolerance should be a major concern to all Ghanaians, since it facilitates development. The NCCE director said every effort must be made to guarantee a historic feat in the country’s forward march in democratic governance.
He reminded politicians that destructive criticisms, personality attacks and the discrediting of hard won achievements will not serve any useful purpose. Mr. Antwi stressed that power should not be won through threats of intimidation and the trading of falsehoods, but the organization of broad-based, progressive and people centred policies.
The NCCE director urged opinion leaders, party executives, and all men and women of goodwill and influence, to impact positively on their respective societies, so that, the next generation would be proud of them.
The Obuasi Divisional Police Commander, Osei Ampofo-Duku assured the public that, the police is ready to clear every stumbling block in that will mar credible elections. .
